With an average of 1,000 people a day moving to Texas, it ranks as one of the fastest growing states in the county. The numbers of new Texans requiring a home is on the rise, and the statistics are reflecting it.
The latest Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data show that sales of existing single-family homes in Texas were 5.8% percent higher than 2Q of 2014. Sales of new homes were up by 14%. Despite a climb of 8.8% in the median price of a home, the $210,000 sales price apparently isn’t posing any challenges for willing sellers.
This summer saw a frantic sales pace, with homes under $200,000 typically closing in just 38 days.
